Oyebanji approves work-from-home policy for Ekiti workers
Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has approved a work-from-home arrangement for civil servants in the state.The arrangement is aimed at further cushioning the effect of the current economic situation on workers in the state.According to a statement by the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Mr Yinka Oyebode, under the new arrangement, officers on levels 01-07 will work from home three days a week.Also, officers on levels 08-12 are to work from home two days a week, while officers on levels 13-17 will work from home once a week.The new arrangement, which commences on Monday, September 9, 2024, excludes essential workers like teachers, core health workers in hospitals, and security personnel, among others.According to the governor’s directive, each MDA is expected to produce a workable schedule for staff to ensure that the new work-from-home arrangement does not jeopardize effective service delivery.The arrangement will be in place for a period of two months and is subject to periodic review in line with prevailing circumstances.Also, the arrangement does not affect other palliative measures put in place by the state government, including the monthly wage award for workers and pensioners, and the free bus service for workers and students.The Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji-led administration is committed to workers’ welfare and will continue to implement necessary measures to enhance their productivity. -

196 Ekiti indigenes in law school to get N150,000 each
The Ekiti State government has approved the payment of N29,400,000 as bursary awards to 196 indigenes at the Nigeria Law School (Bar 1) for the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 academic sessions.
The Ekiti Scholarship Board’s secretary, Bukola Faluyi, released a statement on Saturday in Ado-Ekiti that included this information.
Ms Faluyi said, ”The disbursement of the bursary award is in tandem with Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s vision to encourage academic excellence among students of Ekiti State origin.
”It is on this note that the governor has graciously approved the payment of the bursary award, which is one of the several steps to support his shared prosperity agenda of human capital development.”
According to her, each beneficiary will receive N150,000 on Tuesday, July 23, at the Ministry of Education.
Ms Faluyi said the event would be presided over by Ekiti State Commissioner for Education, Olabimpe Aderiye.

Ekiti government reveals Oyebanji’s whereabouts amid concerns
The Ekiti State government has revealed that the state Governor, Abiodun Oyebanji is still in the United States.
This is coming amid reports that the governor is yet to return to the country for more than two weeks.
Reacting to the report, the government said:
“The attention of the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has been drawn to a misleading report by Sahara Reporters on his trip to the United States.
“There would have been no need to respond to the misleading report, because the itinerary of the Governor was well publicized before he embarked on the trip. However, this response is being made for the sake of the reading public who might be hoodwinked by the highly misleading report.
“It is on record that the itinerary of the Governor was made public through a statement signed his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode on May 5, 2024.
“The statement, which was circulated in both the traditional and social media, indicated that Governor Oyebanji would, during the trip, participate in the 2024 US-Africa Business Summit in Dallas and the nineteenth session of the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF19) in New- York. The statement also indicated that the Governor was scheduled to hold talks with critical stakeholders, business leaders and development partners in furtherance of the shared prosperity agenda of the administration, before returning to the country.
“Highlights of the Governor’s engagements in the US are regularly communicated to the people of the state through media reports. These include his panel presentations, engagements with business leaders and development partners as well as the signing of the multi billion naira 100,000 hectares cassava farm with CAVISTA Holdings. The engagements continue till his return date.
“In line with the transparency and accountability policy of the administration, all local and international engagements and trips of the Governor have always been made public. And this current one is not an exception.
“It is on record that the current US trip of the Governor is the first outside the Continent since assuming office on October 16, 2022. The first trip outside the country was a UNDP sponsored induction programme for Governors held in Kigali; followed by the Afrexim Meeting in Cairo, where the state got a very significant infrastructure support from the bank”.

Ekiti Assembly gets new Speaker
Mr Adeoye Aribasoyo (APC- Ikole 2), has been elected as the speaker of the 7th assembly of the Ekiti State House of Assembly.
Aribasoyo was elected shortly after proclamation of the 7th Assembly by the Clerk of the house, Mr Tola Esan in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday.
The Speaker was unanimously elected after he was nominated by Mr Femi Akindele (APC-Irepodun Ifelodun Constituency 1).
Mrs Bolaji Olagbaju (APC- Ado 2) was also elected as the deputy speaker.
Olagbaju was the daughter of the immediate past Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, late Bisi Egbeyemi.
Speaking with newsmen, the new Speaker said the 7th Assembly would ensure that the people of the state enjoy the dividends of democracy.
Aribasoyo said the assembly was ready to work for the betterment of the people of the state.
“We will be futuristic in our approach and worked tirelessly, performing our major roles for the betterment of our people.
“We are ready to offer selfless service to our dear state, we are fully prepared. I am using we because it is not going to be a one man’s show, we are going to work collectively with my colleagues.
“I see the light shining in Ekiti State because the 7th assembly will bring about meaningful impacts to the lives of the people of our dear state.
“The 7th assembly will join hands with all stakeholders to take the state to the height that we desired,” Aribasoyo said.
