My dad collapsed after DSS forced him to trek – late Iwuanyanwu’s son

Jide, son of the deceased Elder statesman and leader of OHANAEZE NDIGBO, Engr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu has narrated how his father slumped upon his return from the DSS Headquarters, after he was forced to trek long distance while he went visiting IPOB Leader, Nnamdi Kanu

Jide Iwuanyanwu, son of the late Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, has shared details about his father’s final trip before his passing.

The former President-General of Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo died at 82 on July 24, 2024, and was buried on November 2, 2024.

Speaking with journalists on Sunday, Jide expressed gratitude to the government for their support during the funeral.

He revealed that his father’s last journey was to Abuja, where he visited Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), held in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).

During the visit, security operatives at the DSS headquarters prevented Chief Iwuanyanwu from being driven into the premises, requiring him to walk instead.

“While at the DSS headquarters in Abuja where Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is being held, the security operatives at the gate denied him from being driven into the premises. They said the only condition for him to achieve his mission there was for him to walk down and he obliged,” Jide said.

After returning home, he collapsed and was rushed to the hospital, where he passed away.

Jide urged the government to fulfill his father’s final wish by releasing Kanu, believing it would restore peace, boost business, end the Monday sit-at-home protests, and improve the situation in the South East.

He also thanked Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu for engaging with his late father on issues such as Kanu’s release and the South East Development Commission.

While appreciating President Tinubu for approving the commission, Jide called on him to grant Kanu’s release as a tribute to his father’s legacy.

  • #EndBadGovernance: Court grants bail to Baze Uni senior lecturer

The Sokoto state High Court has granted bail to Dr. Abubakar Alkali, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Petroleum and Gas Engineering at Baze University.

Dr. Alkali had been detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) for the past three weeks on allegations of supporting the #EndBadGovernance protests.

NLC to conduct medical checks on Ajaero after DSS detention

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has announced plans to conduct comprehensive medical checks on its President, Joe Ajaero, following his release from detention by the Department of State Services (DSS).
Ajaero was arrested and detained at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja while en-route to the United Kingdom to attend a conference on workers’ rights and social justice.
In a statement, NLC Deputy President Prince Adewale Adeyanju expressed gratitude to Nigerians, civil society organizations, affiliates, and the international community for their support during Ajaero’s “illegal arrest and detention.” The statement emphasized the importance of collective action in defense of justice and workers’ rights.
Ajaero’s release came after intense pressure from the NLC and compliance with the demands of the National Administrative Council (NAC). The NLC remains vigilant and will conduct medical checks to ensure Ajaero’s health has not been compromised.
The NLC condemned the arrest and detention as a “reckless abuse of power” and reaffirmed its commitment to standing against oppression, intimidation, and lawlessness. The organization views the attack on its leadership as an assault on the fundamental rights of all Nigerian workers and citizens.
The NLC demands the release of citizens detained for participating in the #EndBadGovernance protest, an end to the clampdown on popular voices, and the reversal of hikes in petrol and electricity tariffs. The organization also calls for the immediate implementation of the 2024 National Minimum Wage Act.
The NLC has suspended its National Executive Council meeting to assess the situation and determine next steps in its collective struggle. The organization urges Nigerians, affiliates, and the international community to remain steadfast and vigilant in the struggle for justice and workers’ rights.

Peter Obi, Wife, Not Arrested By DSS – Aide

These do not look like the best of times for peace loving Nigerians as the fear of arrest by overzealous security agents hang over them like the sword of Damocles.
The latest is the rumour of arrest Mr. Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) which has been swiftly dismissed by his media aide, Valentine Obienyem.
He said there’s no truth in rumours that Obi was arrested at his home in Anambra, stressing that the former Governor was not even in the country at the time the alleged arrest was said to have taken place.
Obienyem, who made the denial in a statement on Tuesday, added that contrary to claims in such reports, Obi’s wife, Margaret, was also not arrested.
The media aide said stories about his principal’s arrest were entirely false and baseless.
“As of Saturday, Mr. Obi was in Rwanda attending to important engagements,” Obienyem said. “He has since returned to Nigeria and is currently in Edo State, where he is actively involved in party and national matters.”
The statement urged the public to disregard the rumour and stop spreading false information.
“There was no DSS operation at his residence, and no arrest was made,” Obienyem emphasised.
According to him, Obi continues to focus on his commitment to the nation, while his team remains steadfast in providing accurate updates on his activities.
  • Arm Your cranial Cavity Against Anti-Tinubu Information Warfare

Arm Your cranial Cavity Against Anti-Tinubu Information Warfare

As Nigeria Turns 63: No Quick Road To Nirvana

Whether we admit it or not, there is a fierce information warfare competing to take hold of the jello (our brain) measuring 5.5 x 6.5 x 3.6 inches (about ten tennis balls) sitting in our cranial cavity. It is daily being bombarded by laser beam of misinformation, exaggeration, mis-attribution, propaganda, innuendos, insinuations, deep fake and outright lies. The goal is to manipulate our perception and control our behavior spanning from what we eat, buy, wear, our belief and perception of reality about our institutions and government.

The human brain has not evolved enough to handle its bombardment with so much conflicting information at the same time. That is why confirmation bias has become its default operational model. Confirmation bias is the propensity of the human brain to acquiesce and accept as fact information that comports with and confirms pre-existing bias, no matter how absurd it is.

It is almost as if we are at the early stages of losing our critical and analytical thinking skills. Most of us have surrendered our brains, thoughts and minds to AI generated algorithms to do the thinking for us.

Sadly, the people behind these algorithms have obliged us by manipulating our minds.

So when you read the above headline US Economist | Wednesday August 28, 2024, Economist Cartoons Tinubu Private Jet as Nigerians starve”, what comes to your mind. Did you think that the cartoon in question was released by “US Economist” a news organization or Steve Hanke a right wing Neoconservative economist who served under Ronald Reagan? What social media will not tell is that the latter is true. The entire story is based on a cartoon and about ten to fifteen words on X (formerly Twitter) by Steve Hanke, a John Hopkins professor who has made Tinubu-basing a cottage industry. Yet that story has been picked up by the usual suspects, the Tinubu-Hate group and blown out into a major news headline on Nigerian social media. That is the classic M. O. of propaganda and perception manipulation on social media.

When did it become the fricking (don’t want to be vulgar) business of a White Neocon who probably has not set his feet in Nigeria ever to dictate to our president when he decides to replace the fleet of inoperable flight-unworthy aircraft in the presidential fleet? Of course these same bozos would be the first to castigate us as incompetent brutes should God forbids our president and his cabinet is incinerated in a rickety plane crash like they did when the Iranian president died in the same circumstance.

Yes, these are indeed extremely tough times for our country and our people, but by golly we must not succumb our brains and our sovereignty to malicious outsiders who wish us no good and have contributed to our socio-economic and political downfall.

Sadly, and because fake news and opinion journalism sell, old media newspapers like the Tribune, Punch and Arise TV among other have junked their journalistic pretensions and instead have hired highly talented opinionators (cloaked in the undeserved garbs of Journalists) to peddle beautifully crafted hateful opinions and perception-manipulations.

Let me repeat once more that there is a vicious information warfare to turn the Nigerian citizens against its government and in the process decapitate the Tinubu regime and our hard earned albeit frustrating democracy and turn the ethnic group against one another. Sadly this phenomenon has become a global epidemics. Most national security agencies from the CIA, FBI and M-6 have set up sophisticated anti-propaganda units to confront this menace. It would be criminal negligence if the Nigerian government does not set up similar unit in the country. Fake news have led to ethnic and racial massacres from Bangladesh, to Indian and across Europe. Mischief makers will call it descent into authoritarianism and infringement of the freedom of speech.

Information has been weaponized and no responsible government will sit by indolently while the country security and sovereignty are been threatened by information warriors. Yes, we must defend vigorously defend our fundamental right to freedom of speech, but w will all be risking it all if we allowed evil doers to hide behind the veil of free speech to destabilize our country.

We must jealously guide, armour and insulate your ten tennis ball jello (brain) against the misinformation and outright manipulation.

Terrorism: Court orders DSS to freeze 20 bank accounts

The Department of State Services (DSS) has obtained a Federal High Court order in Abuja to freeze 20 bank accounts associated with Aisha Abdulkarim, a suspected female terrorist.
The accounts, domicile in eight different banks, are to remain frozen for a period of 60 days to enable the secret police to carry out forensic investigations into the alleged acts of terrorism by the bank account operator.
Justice Peter Lifu issued the order to freeze the accounts after the DSS presented and argued an ex-parte application before him.
Also linked with the alleged acts of terrorism are Yehusa Idris and Abdullahi Babayo Umar, who are also in custody of the DSS.
The lawyer stated that freezing the accounts was crucial to providing the DSS with unrestricted access during the investigation.
Although the DSS requested a 90-day freeze order, the judge granted 60 days, instructing the secret police to conduct their investigation diligently and expeditiously.
  • President Tinubu appoints new DGs for NIA, DSS

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Amb. Mohammed Mohammed as the new Director General for the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and Mr. Adeola  Oluwatosin Ajayi as the new head of the Department of State Services (DSS).
Both appointments are sequel to the recent resignation of erstwhile chiefs of both agencies.
    Background of the new DGs
Both Directors-General are round pegs in round holes, having been seasoned security experts who rose through the ranks.
Ambassador Mohammed, a 1990 graduate of Bayero University, Kano, has had an illustrious career in the foreign service since joining the NIA in 1995. He had served in various roles, culminating in his promotion to the rank of Director and his subsequent appointment as the head of the Nigerian mission to Libya.
He  had served in North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and at the State House, Abuja.
The new DSS Director-General, Mr. Adeola Ajayi, also rose through the ranks to attain his current post of Assistant Director-General of the Service. He had, at various times, served as State Director in Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi.
    Presidential Mandate
While appreciating the outgone DGs for the services to the nation, the President charged the new chiefs of the nation’s apex security institutions to build upon and endeavour to surpass the successes of their predecessors.
President Tinubu expects that the new security chiefs will work assiduously to reposition the two intelligence agencies for better results and charges them to bring their experience to bear in tackling the security challenges bedeviling the country.
A statement by the President’s adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale disclosed that President charged them to establish enhanced collaboration with sister agencies and in surgical alignment with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

#EndBadGovernance : Mobilisers Of Foreign Flag, Set To Resume Protest
Less than a week after suspending the nationwide protest against hardship in Nigeria which held from August 1st to 10th, the mobilisers say Nigerians have the right to request the assistance of Russian govt and other countries in their struggle against hardship in the country.
The Protesters at a media briefing in Abuja, insist that they are returning to the streets in the coming days as no amount of accusations and arrests of members will force them to back out of the demonstrations until their demands are met.
The ten days nationwide protest that occurred in several states except in some south -eastern states in Nigeria was suspended upon the completion of the time frame given to the federal government amid efforts made by security agencies who tear-gassed and arrested some members of the #endbadgovernance protest.
Over one week after some arrests, some members are still in the security detention centre including Michael Lenin, Sodiq, Opaoluwa and Angel.
At a media conference in Abuja, the mobilisers defended the decision of Nigerians to raise Russian flag during the demonstration, arguing that the display is an expression of their constitutional right to free speech and solidarity with global struggles against bad leadership.
The young Nigerians insist that they will not give up their struggle to put an end to bad governance in Nigeria as the group is set to resume the demonstration in coming weeks.
The mobilisers however, did not reveal to the media a specific date when the protest shall resume.
They urged Nigerians, particularly members of the Nigerian Labour Congress and the trade union congress, to prepare by refusing every possible attempt by the government to ignore their struggle.
The mobilisers told the Tinubu-led government not to incite protesters with violent repression as they prepare to return to the streets.
  • Invasion: NLC holds emergency NEC meeting today

Invasion: NLC holds emergency NEC meeting today

Even as agents of the Federal Government deny the act, leaders of the Nigeria Labour (NLC) are holding an emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting today to deliberate and take a stand on the needless invasion of the Labour House on Wednesday night in Abuja by security forces.
This came as Labour Writers Association of Nigeria, LAWAN, joined the growing list of concerned organisations and individuals condemning the invasion.
Recall that heavily armed Policemen and others in mufti late Wednesday night invaded the NLC Headquarters, Abuja, commonly known as Labour House.
The stern looking policemen stormed the Labour House some few minutes to 9 pm and ransacked both the Second and 10th floors.
According to information, “They broke into second floor and ransacked offices including a bookshop and carted away several materials including books claiming that the materials were used to incite and organise the recent protest.”
The NEC meeting is scheduled for 4 pm “to enable Labour leaders determine appropriate response to the invasion and related matters.”
It gathered that the meeting would be virtual.
